The WIH Book Club Mission

Designed to bring together peers in a safe space to have inquisitive, thoughtful and constructive conversations around complex topics that relate to the WIH mission and values. The book club will focus on book choices that relate to healthcare industry education, professional development, mentorship, self care, diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Book Club Format

Participants are expected to obtain and read the selected book on their own. The group will come together for a happy hour and guided discussion to generate meaningful dialogue. Book club groups will be limited to 30 participants per book. Questions and a special gift will be provided in the participant’s welcome package upon registration. Conversations will include a prominent guest moderator from the healthcare industry to guide the conversation.

Executive Director
The Equity Collaborative

Gayle Capozzalo is the Executive Director of The Equity Collaborative which is a part of the Carol Emmott Foundation and focused on gender equity in healthcare leadership and governance. She is also the President and CEO of JGF Strategies LLC, providing strategy guidance to healthcare organizations. She retired in July 2018 as the Executive Vice President/Chief Strategy Officer of Yale New Haven Health System. She joined the System in 1997 and was primarily responsible for System strategy development and execution, marketing, community and government relations, innovation, business development and mergers and acquisitions.

Book Club Rules:

  • The purpose of this book club is to read and enjoy literature and though provoking conversation.
  • Come prepared. Do the reading, review the questions, jot down notes.
  • You may find that you disagree with something that another member of the group has said.
  • It is okay to disagree as long as it’s done respectfully.
  • Inappropriate behavior and/or language will not be tolerated.
  • Please respect the authority of the moderator.
  • Keep on topic, but feel free to introduce information that is relevant to the discussion (historical facts, bio details, book background, related authors or topics).

Target Audience:

This event is a members only event.

We encourage all women in healthcare to join in on the dialogue.

Registration:

$10 will secure your seat in the group.

Participants must be registered to participate in the small group discussion.
